Flint, Michigan

After a 14 hour roadtrip with a stopover in Cleveland, Ohio we finally arrived in Flint yesterday.
But before we can move to our apartments, we have to stay in ‘Thompson Hall’ for 6 days.

During this short period we will have to organize a lot and we think we will never get bored in this time.

Our lecture will begin tomorrow and we are really curious about this.
So we hope we will have a good time the next three months…

Last day in NYC

Thursday was our last day in NYC. At the evening we went out with some other guys from our hostel. Later on we met an Australian and some French people. We did party with them and it was great fun.
We got home at 7 in the morning, what was definetely too late, because we had to get up at 10 o`clock to our trip heading to Flint.
In summary you can say, that the week in NY was a really great time and we wished we could stay any longer!

NY Knicks vs LA Clippers

img_0081

On last Wednesday we went to a basketball match of the New York Knicks against the Los Angeles Clippers. It was really great fun! The Madison Square Garden is very impressive and it was an awesome game. At the beginning it seemed like the Clippers would had no chance, but at the end it was a thriller and the teams had to go in the overtime. That was similar to the atmosphere in the the hall. First we were disappointed about the crowd, because it was very quiet in the hall. But in the last quarter the hall was like a boiling pot!
Unfortunately the Clippers won the game 140:135. We were really sad about this, because we are the greatest Knicks fans New York has ever seen, but we had fun anyway.
More about this amazing evening in the pictures below.

The city that never sleeps…

Skyline taken from the Brooklyn-Bridge

Skyline taken from the Brooklyn Bridge

Marina and Paul drove us from Washington D.C. over Philadelphia to New York City on last Thursday the 19th.
Thereby we noticed that there are more cabs like usual cars at traffic.
At the evening we arrived at our hostel in Harlem, Manhattan above the Central Park. First of all we have to say that Harlem isn’t as dangerous as a few years ago.
A good deal more it became a famous neigborhood with culture.

On the next day we visited many of the most important sights in Manhattan like the Central Park, Rockefeller Center, Empire State Building (no we weren’t on top), the Times Sqare, Little Italy, Chinatown, the construction side of the new Freedom Tower at Ground Zero and the Wall Street.

On Saturday we went to Northern Harlem (Columbia University for example) by day and watched a Comedy Club at Times Square at night. There were four stand-up comedians and we had a tremendous time though we didn’t understand everything. Michael Mittermeier has also acted in this club a few years ago.

We also went out for clubbing on Sunday (Cielo, one of the most famous clubs in NY).

Not only to be in Manhattan, we visited Brooklyn on Monday and walked back over the Brooklyn Bridge.
At the night Ben arrived and the next day we went to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, Times Square and Central Park.

Daytona Beach

Another picture to make you jealous :-P

Another picture to make you jealous 😛

After one day in Orlando we drove to Daytona Beach with Paul and Marina for two days. Daytona is the origin of the spring break parties, so we hoped to have a funny time there. On Sunday evening we went out to a club called Colliseum, but it was unfortunately empty. And we didn`t find another place to do party as well, so went home.
The next day we went to the beach in Daytona, which is a really nice one. Very special in Dayrona Beach is, that you are allowed to drive with your car at the beach. The whole beach is full of parking cars and many posers show their rides to the other people.
At the afternoon we chilled at a pool of a hotel next to the beach. There also was a DJ at the pool and some students did party, but this was not the great spring break party we had expected in Florida as well.
At the evening we left Florida to stay one night in Savannah, South Carolina. That only will be a stopover of our roadtrip heading to New York.
But before that we want to see Washington D.C….

Cape Canaveral

On Sunday the 15th we had the luck to see a manned rocket assisted take off in Cape Canaveral.
We were not the only persons who watched this event approximately 20miles away. It was kind of public viewing.

Though the pictures below aren’t that great, it was so amazing and impressive, we will never forget that!

Orlando

We decided to meet with Paul – another Flint student – and his girlfriend Marina in Orlando and to finish with Miami.
On Saturday morning we took a bus to Orlando. Because we haven’t slept the night before, we slept nearly all the 5 hours on the bustour.

On the whole you can say, that Miami, especially Miami Beach, is full of the touristic industry and so, very expensive. Probably it’s more expensive than normal business because of the spring break.

We hope the prices are getting more affordable, when we go north on our journey.

Miami Downtown at night

Miami Downtown at night

On Wed, 11th we had to move to another hostel, because our current one was booked up. We were sad about that, because it was very funny there. The new one was also clean and nice but lunch and dinner aren’t included like in the first one. Our two roommates were very nice Argentinian girls. The next day they took us to Key Largo with their rental car. Leticia and Karina snorkled and we did kayaking. We went out very far and so it became very hard to return because we had to fight against the current. Although we enjoyed it a lot.
At Thursday evening we went back to our former hostel to a pre-party and to meet our former slovenian roommates (Tadaj and Sasha). Later on we got a special offer to get to a club called “Mansion”. It was quite good, but we became tired very early.
The last day of Miami, Letitia and Karina leaved to go to New York and we got new roommates, two English guys. The girls gave us some food before they were leaving, so that was our first day we cooked by ourselves. At our last night in South Beach we went to an Irish pub with the English boys . It was fun, so we`ve been partying all night long and haven`t slept an hour.

1st day in Miami Beach

no comment :-)

no comment 🙂

We got up at 8am to take the free breakfast (toast with jam). After that we went shopping, because both of us needed swimshorts.
We recognized that there are a lot of fancy cars and motobikes in Miami Beach. A Cadillac Escalade with 24″ rims is nothing special here. We even saw a few Ferraris and Lamborghinis.
After the lunch (pizza again) we enjoyed the beach. The beach is very fine grained and clean.
At the evening we went out for clubbing, a really great day!
